Four tests flights in Europa G-WWWG fitted with the second prototype engine were made from Bicester on 8th/9th June. As with previous test flights the engine performed faultlessly but the achievement of satisfactory cooling during sustained climbs needs more work. Very conservative temperature limits are being followed at present. Before the next series of flight tests the Europa cowling will be reshaped to allow more pressurised air to escape. Once again Wilksch Airmotive wishes to thank the staff at the RAF Gliding and Soaring Association Centre at Bicester for their invaluable help and use of their splendid grass airfield that is ideal for these early Europa/Diesel flight tests.
